Visitors can also access two canals / waterways the run through Edinburgh.

Follow Union Canal path from the Canal centre and walk the 2 miles or so along towards the city centre – this route is part of the National Cycle Route 75.  This is a good option for those who want to visit the castle and Royal Mile area.  The canal was initially built to transport coal and other goods from the mines in West Lothian to the city, and it played a significant role in the industrial development of Edinburgh. Today, the canal is a popular destination for walkers, joggers, and cyclists, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.  You could also take a canal boat trip from the eastern end of the Union canal, and there are outlets where you can hire bikes if you want to explore a little further.

This Union canal-side walk also takes you past Fountain Park which has a cinema, ten pin bowling, casino, health club plus restaurant/ bar complex.  There is also has free car parking.

Access to the Water of Leith is just over the road from the Apartments.  The Water of Leith is a 12-mile-long river that flows through the city of Edinburgh, from the Pentland Hills to the Firth of Forth.   The river winds its way through the heart of the city, passing by historic landmarks and providing stunning views of the surrounding landscape.  Along the way, it also passes through some of the city’s most beautiful parks and green spaces, including Colinton Dell, Saughton Park, the National Galleries and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Walking along the river is a great way to explore these areas and take in the natural beauty of the city.

Both of these canal-side areas are ideal for dog walking.

If you are a rugby fan, or attending an event at Murrayfield Stadium, our apartments are within walking distance, as is the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, and you can also take a bus part of the way the.  We also offer great access to various event venues including  the Royal Highland Show ground at Ingleston.

For those who love a spot of retail therapy, you can visit the South Gyle Shopping Centre – Bright shopping mall with fashion boutiques, books and electronics stores, and a food court.
